Come January, Monaco FC finalizes a deal with Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas and makes him an official transfer to the Monaco club. The 31-year-old Spanish midfielder has been getting frustrated with Maurizio Sarri’s coaching dynamic and the lack of playing time in Chelsea. Fabregas barely made any appearances for Chelsea in 2018, only appearing in one Premier League match under Sarri.
Fabregas’ former Arsenal teammate Thierry Henry has been attempting to sway Fabregas into committing with Monaco. The 31-year-old footballer’s contract is set to reach its expiration by the end of the season. Monaco has been vying to make points to flee the relegation zone in Ligue 1 and aims to do so with Fabregas as a significant addition to the team. Other alternative transfers to be made in January include Gary Cayhill, Laurent Koscielny, and Real Madrid’s Pepe.
It was last week when Chelsea’s manager Sarri brings up the mandatory need for Chelsea to sign a replacement for Fabregas if the Spaniard decides to flee the club by the end of the season. Sarri says in a statement: “In this position, we have only Jorginho and Fabregas and it would be a very big problem to be without Cesc. I want him to stay.”
“If Cesc will go, then I think we need to buy another player, and it’s not easy because technically Cesc is a very important player, and it’s very difficult to find in the market a player with these characteristics.’ Sarri adds.
