It turns out Leicester still has its hook on Harry Maguire who has just committed his long-term future with the team for another five years. The 25-year-old gets quite the pay raise with his current salary which is now around £80,000 on a weekly basis.
With this new deal at hand, Jose Mourinho is definitely facing the dull reality that Maguire will no longer be pursuing a contract with Manchester United. Mourinho had high hopes that the England international would’ve been the solution to United’s difficult stances on defense.
Leicester has had quite the rails on Maguire with a £75 million valuation on the 25-year-old since the summer break, but despite such, the team never put their hold on the player in paper. With this at hand, Manchester United still strongly expressed their keen interest on Harry Maguire as a target especially due to his spectacular performance in the World Cup.
After finalizing a contract renewal with Leicester, Maguire told LFCTV “Ever since I came to this club, I’ve always reiterated how good they’ve been to me.”
“They gave me an opportunity to play in the Premier League and built a great platform for me to go and perform at the World Cup, so I thank them a lot. I owe them a lot and I’m looking forward to the future.” Maguire adds.
Leicester also sealed deals with star players Jamie Vardy, Wilfred Niddi, and Kasper Schmeichel.
