In Spite of the Take Over Bid by Prince Mohammad bin Salman, Manchester United is Not For Sale

There have been rumors that the Saudi Arabian Prince, Mohammed bin Salman bid on the Premier League team Manchester United. Despite such, Jose Mourinho’s team is not for sale. With Abu Dhabi’s prime ownership of Manchester City, the Saudi royal family has shown the interest of purchasing City’s rival team Manchester United.

The estimated worth of the Saudi royal family is £850 million and with that much money, the Prince is not incapable of pursuing the purchase even with a partnership made with Saudi Arabia’s General Sports Authority. However, this doesn’t change the fact that Manchester United is not for sale and that the speculation was basically driven from the news that Avram Glazer, the co-owner of United was flying to Riyadh for an investment conference.

The Glazer family expressed that they have zero interest in selling a club they bought 13 years ago worth £790 million. The value of Jose Mourinho’s team has escalated to £3-4 billion at present. The Glazers were able to sell 2% of the club’s shares along with a limitation in voting rights last August 2017. Despite not selling the team, they are still keen on selling more to the Saudis but sanctions are highly unlikely because it may weaken their ownership and control over Manchester United.
