Last Wednesday’s match between Liverpool and Napoli took place in Stadio San Paulo with a 1-0 win by Napoli, leaving Liverpool’s central midfielder injured. The 23-year-old Guinean footballer was sent to the hospital after suffering a rough fall in the 20th minute of the game. Keita was escorted out in a stretcher with quite the long treatment procedure after clashing with Lorenzo Insigne who eventually scored a goal for Napoli.
Liverpool officially confirms in a statement in their website:
“Keita was transferred to a local hospital with the club doctor, where – with the midfielder’s agreement – he underwent a number of precautionary health checks to assess his condition. No decision has yet been taken on when the 23-year-old will be discharged.”
Andy Massey, Liverpool’s doctor, confirms that Keita’s back injury was not easy to ignore and appears to be rather significant. This just puts Liverpool in a rocky place with Keita being replaced by Jordan Henderson for the Manchester City match come Sunday.
