There is no final say yet since Zinedine Zidane left Real Madrid, but there are talks that he might succeed Jose Mourinho’s managerial position in Manchester United. Although there is no certainty, Zidane has already stepped up and has curated a list of players he aims to move to United if ever he does become a manager.
With an overwhelming launch of the Premier League season, pressure has certainly been put on Jose Mourinho, especially with two losses since the beginning of the new season. United did catch a break when they won 2-0 against Burnley at Turf Moor last week.
Despite this win for Mourinho, Zidane’s name still comes up when United’s managerial role is the topic of discussion. If Mourinho does resign, Zidane is armed and ready with a transfer wish list for United. Targets include players from Real Madrid, like Toni Kroos, Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich and James Rodriguez, as well as PSG’s Edinson Cavani.
The Frenchman who left Real Madrid was able to lock the team’s strength in with another win in the Champions League against Liverpool. Aside from this remarkable title win, he was also able to garner a La Liga winners medal last 2017, simultaneously conquering the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Zidane’s name is definitely high on the roster despite no final decisions made by Manchester United. With a questionable season launch and monotonous transfers, Mourinho’s chances of staying are as bleak as him leaving. Manchester United is set to start their Champions League campaign with matches against Young Boys and Valencia.
